PINEHURST OUTREACH PROGRAMME
Our school motto DISCIMUS UT SERVIAMUS means WE LEARN THAT WE MIGHT SERVE. At Pinehurst we aim to provide opportunities for our learners and their families to give expression to this value of community service and to make a meaningful difference to the lives of others. We believe that serving others is enriching not only for those being served but also for those who serve.

WHOLE SCHOOL ACTIVITIES:
Every term we hold a civvies day with money raised being donated to a chosen charity.
Where possible we aim to have a speaker from the organisation explaining their work and the needs of those they work with. We also hold a termly collection of items such as Easter eggs, jerseys, rain jackets, soft toys or groceries which are given to schools or organisations able to distribute them to those in need.

Each year in September our Gr 1s and 2s visit the local old age homes to entertain the residents with songs and poems and to deliver spring posies.

PINEHURST OUTREACH PROGRAMME:

The Pinehurst Outreach Programme or P.O.P is a club which was created to encourage the children of Pinehurst to volunteer their time. Anyone in Grade 5, 6 and 7 is able to take part in various outreach activities. There are usually two activities scheduled in the last week of every term. Activities range from painting tyres as pot plant holders for a vegetable garden to performing musical pieces at the old age home up the road from the school. The ultimate aims being to foster a love for volunteering and giving back to others and to motivate the children of Pinehurst to be kind whenever possible.

Desmond Tutu said: “Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.”
We do hope you will join us in doing little bits of good!
